A Puerto Rico client shares her experience of working with CSI Laboratories following Hurricane Maria. While the hurricane may have created new challenges for sending and receiving specimens, CSI’s dedication to quality patient care and constant communication remained resolute.
“The process in Puerto Rico was quite complex. As you have seen in the media, the lack of water services and electrical energy hit the community in general, including hospitals and medical offices. I think CSI has been one of the few reference laboratories with very attentive and very transparent service to laboratories in Puerto Rico. CSI is characterized as being a laboratory with very accessible personnel. During the post-Hurricane Maria period, this was no exception. CSI, through our sales representative and the customer service staff, always kept us informed of how the transportation process was being done and what measures to take to maintain the integrity of the sample. As for the rest of the process, I have to say that the most important thing for us is that CSI always maintained active communication to handle each case and that they were able to understand our limitations and accept some modifications to the transport and communication process in order to fit our needs. In general, I think that just as our pathology practice remained standing to provide service on the island during the post-hurricane period, CSI fit our needs for reference cases, and I think we make a good team.”
