Amir Hammami, MD - Medical Director

Dr. Amir Hammami joined CSI Laboratories in 2013 as a hematopathologist. Before joining CSI in 2013, Dr. Hammami served as a hematopathology consultant to CSI Laboratories since 1999.

Board certified in hematopathology, and anatomic and clinical pathology, Dr. Hammami brings a wealth of knowledge to CSI. For over ten years, Dr. Hammami served as the Medical Director of Laboratories at South Fulton Medical Center in East Point, Georgia.

Dr. Hammami received his M.D. from the Damascus University School of Medicine in Syria. After moving to the U.S., he completed a residency in clinical pathology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. He then moved to Atlanta where he completed a residency in anatomic pathology and a fellowship in hematopathology at Emory University School of Medicine, later earning a position at the University as an instructor of hematopathology.

Aurelia Meloni-Ehrig, PhD, DSc - Chief Genetics Director

Dr. Aurelia Meloni-Ehrig joined CSI Laboratories in 2013 and serves as the Chief Genetics Director.  With over 30 years of experience in the discipline of cytogenetics, Dr. Meloni-Ehrig has had the opportunity to serve in both academic and commercial laboratory settings bringing an extensive oncology genetics background to CSI Laboratories.

Prior to joining CSI, Dr. Meloni-Ehrig served as the Chief Director of Cytogenetics at Ameripath in Orlando, Florida, while concurrently holding a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor of Medical Education at the University of Central Florida (UCF) Medical College.  Dr. Meloni-Ehrig is also an accomplished author having published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and has served as an editor for several medical genetic industry publications.

She received her Ph.D. in microbiology at Arizona State University, while also serving as a Professor at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Early on in her career, Dr. Meloni-Ehrig also studied at the Southwest Biomedical Research Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona under the leadership of Dr. Avery Sandberg, a pioneer in the field of cancer cytogenetics.

Steve Kargas, MD, PhD, MBA, FACHE - Director, Surgical Pathology

Dr. Steve Kargas joined CSI Laboratories in 2009 and serves as the Medical Director of CSI Laboratories’ Surgical Pathology service. For over ten years, Dr. Kargas has provided solid-tumor consultation services to clients throughout the nation. He has extensive experience in immunohistochemical analysis of solid tumor malignancies, and he frequently presents at medical conferences.

Prior to joining CSI Laboratories, Dr. Kargas served as a surgical pathologist with a national cancer reference laboratory in Los Angeles. He earned his Ph.D. in pathology and M.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and he earned his MBA  at Pepperdine University. Since 2017, Dr. Kargas has also served as an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Dr. Kargas completed his residency training in anatomic pathology at Stanford University and in clinical pathology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He completed fellowships in renal pathology from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, and in surgical pathology from the City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte, California.

Kevin Goudy, PhD, D(ABMLI) - Director, Molecular Diagnostics

Dr. Kevin Goudy joined CSI Laboratories in 2015 as the Director of Molecular Diagnostics. Dr. Goudy has extensive experience in creating next generation molecular and immunology assays. He has also patented several diagnostic methods and approaches including a method for the isolation of circulating tumor cells.

Prior to joining CSI, Dr. Goudy held the position of Laboratory Director, Director of Research and Development at Pharmacogenetic Laboratories Technologies (PGXL) in Louisville, Kentucky where he was instrumental in developing both diagnostic assays for clinical testing and companion diagnostics for therapeutic monitoring. In addition to his commercial laboratory work, Dr. Goudy also served as a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky

Dr. Goudy received his Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He completed a fellowship in clinical immunology at the University of North Carolina and at the San Raffaele Institute in Milan, Italy.

With more than 20 years of experience in morphologic and flow cytometric diagnostic skills in hematopathology to CSI Laboratories, Dr. An has been a key resource for consultations and diagnostics for our pathology and oncology clients.  Dr. An is board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and hematopathology.

Dr. An completed fellowships in both surgical pathology and hematopathology at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. Prior to CSI, she served as Clinical Assistant Professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana.  During her 11 years of service to the university and regional oncology community, she became known as a leader in hematopathology instruction and diagnostics.

Dr. An has co-authored multiple publications and presentations on hematopoietic disorders. She earned her M.D. degree from University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. An completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in  Los Angeles, California and at Scott & White Memorial Hospital. She is a longstanding member of the American Society of Clinical Pathology and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.

Seble Chekol, MD - Hematopathologist

Dr. Seble Chekol joined CSI Laboratories in 2019 as a Hematopathologist. She has experience in community–based pathology practices as well as in commercial laboratory settings.  Dr. Chekol is board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology and hematopathology.

Dr. Chekol earned her M.D. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in North Carolina. Before attending medical school, Dr. Chekol spent two years as a Postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award (Postbac IRTA) fellow at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, conducting cancer research and studying the cytokine TGF-beta and its role in carcinogenesis.

Dr. Chekol completed her fellowship in hematopathology at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and her residency in anatomical and clinical pathology at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

Lisa Cichon, MD - Hematopathologist

Dr. Lisa Cichon joined CSI Laboratories in 2018 as a Hematopathologist. She has experience both in academic and in community–based practice settings. Dr. Cichon is board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology and hematopathology.

Dr. Cichon earned her M.D. degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois.  She completed her residency in anatomical and clinical pathology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham North Carolina, and her fellowship in hematopathology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC.  During her fellowship she participated in studies of B cell dysregulation and its role in chronic graft versus host disease following allogeneic bone marrow transplantation.

Dr. Bradley Drumheller joined CSI Laboratories in 2022 and serves as a Hematopathology and Molecular Genetic Pathologist. He is board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, hematopathology and is awaiting board certification in molecular genetic pathology.

Dr. Drumheller earned his M.D. degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed both a fellowship in molecular genetic pathology and a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, as well as a fellowship in hematopathology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

During his time in Atlanta, Dr. Drumheller was recognized with the Fellow Golden Apple Award for his contribution to resident education and awarded a certificate of distinction in medical education from Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Drumheller is the author or co-author of many peer-reviewed publications, a frequent presenter of clinical seminars and a former instructor of molecular pathology didactics.

Dr. Amar Jariwala is a hematopathologist and surgical pathologist with experience signing out complex bone marrow biopsies, lymph node biopsies, flow cytometry, and general surgical pathology in hospital-based practices. He also has extensive research experience in hematopathology, surgical pathology, infectious diseases, and vaccine development for neglected tropical diseases.

Dr. Jariwala received his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim, Goa, India and a Master of Science in Public Health from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at The George Washington University Hospital, followed by a fellowship in hematopathology at City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, California. His training included a rotation with Dr. Elaine Jaffe at NIH, and he has also worked under Dr. Peter Hotez, the world-renowned vaccinologist and neglected tropical diseases expert. Dr. Jariwala has authored or co-authored seventeen publications.

Dr. Stephanie Schniederjan joined CSI Laboratories in 2010 as a Hematopathologist.  She brings over a decade of experience in morphologic and flow cytometric diagnostic skills in hematopathology to CSI Laboratories.  Dr. Schniederjan is board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and hematopathology.

Dr. Schniederjan earned her M.D. degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center College of Medicine in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK. During her time in Oklahoma, she also completed hematopathology research studying B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas for the Warren Cancer Research Foundation. Dr. Schniederjan completed both a fellowship in hematopathology and a residency in anatomical and clinical pathology at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA which included extensive training in Emory’s nationally recognized molecular laboratory.

Zunyan Dai (Dr. Day), PhD, DABMGG - Scientific Director, Genetics

Dr. Day is board-certified in clinical cytogenetics and clinical molecular genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG).

He has a New York Certificate of Qualification as a laboratory director for clinical cytogenetics, molecular genetics and molecular oncology.

Dr. Day received his B.S. in Medical Technology and M.S. degree in Oncology from Shanghai Medical University, his Ph.D. degree in Human Cancer Genetics and his postdoctoral training in Pharmacogenomics from The Ohio State University Medical Center. He completed his fellowship training in clinical cytogenetics and molecular genetics in the Department of Pediatrics (Nationwide Children’s Hospital) and the Department of Pathology at The Ohio State University.

He has more than 40 published papers in internationally acclaimed journals. Dr. Day has been involved in teaching clinical molecular genetics and cytogenetics fellows, genetic counseling students and medical students. Dr. Day’s major service efforts involve clinical laboratory diagnosis of molecular and chromosomal disorders, using chromosome analysis, microarray, FISH, sequencing, and related techniques.

Mary Haddadin, MD - Senior Cytogenetic Director

Dr. Haddadin joined CSI laboratories in 2022 as a senior cytogenetic director. Prior to joining CSI, Dr. Haddadin served as an assistant professor of clinical pathology and laboratory medicine/clinical cytogenetics at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) NY.

Dr. Haddadin completed her medical training at the Medical Academy in Sofia Bulgaria in 1984 and advanced training in medical and clinical genetics from the University of London in 1989. She did a post-doctoral research fellowship in molecular pathology at Johns Hopkins University, followed by a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical cytogenetics at the Mount Sinai School of medicine. She is very well trained and boarded by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics.

Dr. Haddadin has published six research papers on the cytogenetics of malignant tumors. She has also worked in the area of cytogenetic characterization of pancreatic cancers. While at Quest Diagnostics she was interested in complex constitutional chromosome abnormalities and presented posters on this subject at national scientific meetings. Dr. Haddadin is also considered an expert in the study of cytogenetic abnormalities involving hematological malignancies involving the blood and bone marrow.

Ankita Patel, PhD - Senior Genetics Director

Dr. Ankita Patel joined CSI laboratories in 2022 and serves as a senior genetics director. She has over 30 years of experience in classical cytogenetics and is a pioneer in molecular cytogenetics.

Prior to joining CSI, Dr. Patel held positions in academic and commercial laboratories. She worked in an academic setting at Baylor College of Medicine in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics.  At Baylor, she set up the cancer cytogenetics section and training curriculum for technologists, pathology residents, hematopathology fellows and clinical genetics fellows. She was also involved in teaching graduate students, technologists, genetic counselors and fellows in the clinical genetics program.

Dr. Patel has long been at the forefront of molecular cytogenetics in that she was involved in FISH (Fluorescent in-situ hybridization) before it was adopted in the clinical laboratories, she was also an integral member of the team at Baylor which was the first laboratory to offer microarray testing in postnatal, prenatal and cancer. She has been and is actively involved in national consortiums that have established protocols and guidelines for the interpretation of microarray findings. Dr. Patel is an accomplished author with over 130 peer-reviewed articles in international acclaimed journals and has presented at many local and invited international meetings.

Dr. Patel received her Bachelor’s in Biology from Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA) and her PhD in Biomedical Sciences jointly from Eastern Virginia Medical School and Old Dominion University.
